Paignton Beach is known for its safety and cleanliness and as such, it is a popular beach for swimming. Make sure to look out for local signs, especially around the pier as this is the only area where it is advised you shouldn't swim.

Is Paignton Beach dog friendly?
Paignton's beaches are mostly dog friendly. The following beaches around Paignton are dog friendly:
- The North Side of Goodrington Sands is dog friendly all year round, but please be aware that there is a nature reserve next door, which dogs are not allowed to visit to help protect the local wildlife.
- Fairy Cove, which can be found at the south end of Paignton Sands is dog friendly
- Oyster Cove and Saltern Cove, which can be found between Goodrington Sands and Broadsands, which are dog friendly all year round. They are both accessed by the South West Coast Path and Saltern Cove is part of the local UNESCO Global Geopark. In fact, it is the only underwater SSSI in the UK.
- South Sands is dog friendly from October 1st until April 30th, please take note of local signage.
Is the pier dog friendly?
Yes, dogs are welcome on Paignton Pier as long as you keep them on a lead. Entry to the pier is free and features a wide choice of rides, games – including the latest video games – and amusements for all ages.
