Music Events in North Devon

From the biggest names in pop, to open mic nights showcasing promising local talent, whatever music you’re into, North Devon has something that’s bang on tune.

There are lots of venues in the region including the Queen’s and Landmark Theatres in Barnstaple and Ilfracombe and The Plough Arts Centre in Torrington, not to mention a whole host of cool and quirky pubs and clubs in our towns and villages. All these venues showcase locally grown talent performing a range of musical genres, so whatever you’re into, you’ll find a gig for you.

Music doesn’t just take place indoors in North Devon, several performers take advantage of the incredible landscape to host some truly memorable performances.

Family Festivals

The majority of festivals that take place in North Devon feature live music performances and with the abundance of events and activities geared towards the whole family there is always something for everyone to enjoy.

Throughout the year you’ll find a range of festivals and events taking place, giving you plenty of opportunity to see the best that North Devon has to offer, the biggest names in music can be experienced with a spectacular backdrop at Goldcoast OceanFest which takes place at Croyde every June and is an ideal family festival. Not only do you get the chance to sample amazing street food and watch watersport demonstrations, but there is always an incredible line up of live music. Previous performers have included Craig David, Tom Odell, Chase and Status, Jess Glynn, The Kaiser Chiefs among others.

For something a little more classical and with a gentler atmosphere, take a look at the Two Moors Festival, an annual celebration of classical music that takes place across both Exmoor and Dartmoor providing endless entertainment and awe inspiring musicians.

Not all about the big names

While seeing a chart topper do their thing is exciting, nothing can beat the enthusiasm of locally grown talent. Pubs and bars, as well as theatres and outdoor venues host several local musicians all year around giving you the chance to see Devon’s creativity at its finest.

Local gigs are often free and gives you the chance to have a cheap night out while enjoying some live music. Make sure to take a look at the bars and pubs during your stay to see who is playing and check them out, you never know, you might just discover the next Ed Sheeran!

So, whether it’s ground-breaking new sounds, a trip down memory lane with your favourites or chilling with our own local talent, tune into our line-up and make sure you’ve got front row seats.
