Accessibility in Sidmouth and East Devon

Getting to Sidmouth

Sidmouth doesn’t have a train station, there are stations in nearby Honiton and Exeter, with regular bus services to help you make your way around the region.

Getting around Sidmouth

Shopmobility have scooters, wheelchairs and more on hire around East Devon.

Some local attractions also have wheelchairs available to borrow during your visit.

The pavements and promenades are mostly level and are wide enough for scooters and wheelchairs. The curbs are lowered and the majority of shops and eateries have wide doors.

The town has several accessible toilets, which require a RADAR key, you can borrow these from the TIC.

East Devon District Council have a beach access scheme running through the summer months at Sidmouth, Seaton and Beer, with beach matting which allows visitors using wheelchairs, pushchairs or other mobility aids easier access to the sea front.

The Chit Rocks Beach Scheme is a project which aims to install a permanent ramp to allow access to the beach all year around in Sidmouth.
