Local Legends: The 1887 Wreck of the Tea Clipper Halloween 

One of Bolberry Down’s most curious tales is the wreck of the tea clipper Halloween, which ran aground at Soar Mill Cove in 1887. According to local legend, a towering wall of loose tea—nearly three meters high—washed ashore, creating a scene unlike any other. Though the remains of the ship rest beneath the waves, the story of the great tea wreck lives on.
