"I have never before, in my long, eclectic career, been gifted with such an abundance of natural beauty as I experienced filming War Horse. With two and a half weeks of extensive coverage of landscapes and skies, I hardly scratched the surface of the visual opportunities that were offered to me."
- Steven Spielberg on filming in Dartmoor.
Devon has long been a source of inspiration, from the novels of Agatha Christie to Charles Kingsley, Rudyard Kipling and others, it is hardly surprising that so many people have turned to the region’s natural beauty to film adaptations for the big and small screen.
Devon’s location makes it an ideal place for filming, it is easily accessible from London, the midlands and the North via the roads and the mainline rail network and Exeter Airport offers both international and domestic flights. Being on the south coast, you also have access to European ports and the warmer climate provides excellent natural light.
