Winter pricing in EDDC car parks

From 1st November 2024 until 31st March 2025, you can park for up to four hours in most short stay car parks, or up until midnight in all other East Devon District Council car parks for £2.

At short-stay car parks in Sidmouth, Exmouth and Honiton, a four-hour maximum stay for the £2 ticket will be introduced, and this ticket will not be transferable to other car parks. As a result of this change, it is expected that more drivers will be able to make use of the best spaces, closer to the town centres. There is no change to the winter offer at EDDC’s other car parks.

To apply the winter offer, use the RingGo app on your mobile, entering the location code 42976 at car parks with a four-hour limit, or 42973 at sites where you can park until midnight. Alternatively, buy a paper ticket from one of the machines using either cash or card.

To find a car park near you, visit EDDC’s car parks map, and for more information about the offer, visit the frequently asked questions page.

The short stay car parks with a four-hour limit are:

  • Ham East
  • Ham West
  • Roxburgh
  • Mill Street

Beach Safety

Sidmouth's beaches don't have a regular life guard presence, however there is signage and Sidmouth Lifeboat, a fully self funded independent lifeboat operating off of the main town beach and covering a wide area between Axmouth and Budleigh Salterton. The lifeboat team are all volunteers who are on service 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year.

In order to stay safe on the beach, please take note of all the signage and follow the advice listed. If you would like a copy of the Tide Table, you can find this in the window of the lifeboat station, a daily report is also available from outside SeaSalt.

Sidmouth's Defibrillator locations

Defibrillators (aka AEDs) are devices used in a medical emergency that can help patients who are experiencing cardiac arrest. They achieve this by supplying a current of electricity to the heart allowing to to resume a normal rhythm. They are easy to use and can be used by members of the public until the emergency services can attend.

In the event of an emergency, always call 999 first. A responder will then be able to give you the access code to retrieve the nearest defibrillator and will be able to talk you through using the device if needed.
