Ideas for a day out in Sidmouth
Option 1
The Staple of Sidmouth - The Byes
Take a walk in the Byes and explore the nature and wildlife! Begin at the top of Sidford and enjoy a walk down to the town through the Byes, a place where dogs can run free and kids can play and have fun.
The beauty of the Byes is unmatched and is a perfect place to relax with family and friends. Enjoy a picnic in Margaret's Meadow or play a game in one of our multiple fields that are accessible to all.

Option 2
Take a splash and enjoy the beaches
The ideal place to spend a summer's day are the beaches of Sidmouth.
Choose a spot on the Town Beach, which stretches from Ham Park all the way down to Jacobs' Ladder. Relax on the pebbles or hire a paddleboard or kayak. Your family will always be safe on Sidmouth Beach, as we have lifeguards on duty throughout the summer.
Other nearby beaches include Ladram Bay, Seaton Beach, Budleigh Salterton Beach and Beer Beach.
Option 3
Take a hike
Explore the gorgeous Jurassic Coast and see the beauty of East Devon.
Go and see the incredible views from Salcombe Hill and Peak Hill where you can park and walk however far you wish. Follow the coastal paths down to Ladram Bay and further, or go to Branscombe and Beer. The breathtaking views on the Jurassic Coast are never boring and you will enjoy every second of your walk.
Option 4
Grab a bite
Indulge in the delicious food that our shops have to offer in Sidmouth. You truly will have too many to chose from whether that's fine dining at one of the luxury hotels, or grabbing a quick bite from the Dairy Shop or the Bagel Ship.
Sidmouth will not disappoint when it comes to food.
There are loads of great places to find somewhere to eat in and around Sidmouth. See our map below for a host of options.
Option 5
Pop to the park for some family fun
The Sid Valley has a huge variety of parks, just perfect for the kids to enjoy and have a good time. The Ham Park is just seconds away from the beach and the town, so perfect for everyone, while there are also play areas at Stowford Play Area and Long Park Play Area.
