Things to Do in Cullompton

Though not as well known as nearby Tiverton or Devon’s capital, Exeter, Cullompton is home to some of the region’s most popular family attractions. It is a great place for those that love a bit of adventure and being outdoors, come rain or shine! Here you’ll find obstacle courses, museums and the perfect play areas for the kids.

Explore on foot

Walkers, hikers and those that love being outdoors will love visiting Cullompton. All over the town you can find footpaths, cycle tracks, bridleways and some fun, muddy lanes for you to traverse, which will lead you to various local landmarks. The Heritage Trail starts in the centre of town and is good fun for those that love learning about the environment as they explore.

Speaking of learning, Cullompton is full of pretty, historic buildings including St Andrew’s church which has a 120 ft sandstone tower. The church is also interesting because it gives an indication into the town’s importance to the wool industry – it has a wagon roof! It isn’t just the church that gives an insight into Cullompton’s past, you’ll also spot various mills, a manor house and the Old Bull Ring, all of which provide hours of interest.

Shop ‘til you drop

If you’re more interested in discovering new items than discovering local history, don’t worry, Cullompton’s high street has a lovely mix of independent and chain stores, as well as regular markets where you can sample some of the incredible local produce that the people of Mid Devon are so proud of. Not only that, but the town’s social calendar can easily rival nearby Exeter and Tiverton.
