Experience the joy of a new season and the start of warmer weather in Sidmouth. With an array of places to explore, including the Jurassic Coast and plenty of outdoor space, it’s a great place to enjoy the start of a new season.
Here are our top things to do while in Sidmouth this spring.
Valley of a Million Bulbs
We’re a little biased and think that Sidmouth looks delightful all year round but seeing it in the spring is a bit special, especially during the Valley of a Million bulbs. This annual event sees the whole community come together to honour the legacy of one of the town’s best loved visitors, who donated a generous amount of money to bring a sea of daffodils to the town every year. Now every year, daffodils bloom around Peak Hill and the Byes creating a beautiful sight.
Days out at the coast
The beach is for life, not just for summer – visiting during the spring months means that you can spend days at the beach without the usual crowds. With both the Town Beach and the Jacobs Ladder Beach to choose from, you can either go rock pooling, enjoy a coastal walk or spend some time watching the waves.
Exploring the Byes and Mutters Moor
If you want to spend some time out in the great outdoors, Sidmouth has the Byes and Mutters Moor – giving plenty of options for a walk or if it’s warm enough a picnic!
Meeting the donkeys
If you’re looking to make some new friends, head to the Donkey Sanctuary. With free entry and plenty of sweet, rescue donkeys to meet, the Donkey Sanctuary is a lovely place for the whole family to spend time together.
Seeing the new plants
One of the best things about spring is that the new shoots start blooming and the town fills with colour again. In Sidmouth, you can spend time at Blackmore Gardens or Connaught Gardens, where you can enjoy the work of Sidmouth in Bloom with their landscaped gardens and floral arrangements.
