With Spring on its way, there’s no better time to go out and explore the beauty of Seaton. Nestled along the Jurassic Coast and beside the East Devon AONB, discover East Devon’s Natural Capital. Ranging from beginner strolls to more hikes for the more experienced, find your perfect route.

  1. Seaton Loop - Easy

For an all-around view of Seaton, this Seaton Loop walk is perfect for all skill levels. This 3.31 Mile Route, should take approximately an hour and a half and take you around Seaton’s sights. 

Starting at the top of Homer Lane, follow the road down through Traceys Avenue before turning onto Seaton Down Road and then taking a right onto Bunts Lane. Then follow the route left onto Beer Road until you can turn right onto the South West Coast Path which you will then follow onto and along the beach. Enjoy a stroll along the seafront, before exiting onto the Esplanade and then onto Burrow Road. Turn left onto Harbour Road and follow the roundabout to the right at which point you’ll pass Seaton Tramway and Seaton Jurassic! Follow the Underfleet round to the roundabout and turn right onto Fore Street. Continue on Fore Street and then Colyford Road, before turning left onto Valley View. Turn right onto Harepath Road and then turn left onto Barnards Hill Lane and you will reach your starting location at Homer Lane. 

  1. Town to Wetlands Loop - Easy

Enjoy a wealth of wildlife too at Seaton Wetlands. Venture to the Island Hide and see what you can spot. This 1.78 Mile walk should only take 45 minutes, plus the time you spend relaxing at the Wetlands.

  1. Seaton to Holyford Wood Loop - Easy

Make the most of the town and countryside by travelling a little farther afield to Holyford Woods. This 4.39 Mile Route should take approximately two hours to complete, plus any time taken to play and explore, of course. 

Starting at the western edge of Valley View, follow the road until you reach a left turn at Scalwell Lane, continuing north on the road until Scalwell Mead. Follow Scalwell Mead until you reach Harepath Road and turn right. Continue until you reach a left turn at Poplar Tree Drive and follow the road along. Turn right onto Barnards Hill Lane and follow the route up to Holyford Lane and you reach Holyford Brook. Turn left onto the permitted footpath and continue West. Once you have explored the wood, follow the southern edge of the woods around until you meet back at Seaton Down Hill. Follow the road down until you reach Seaton Down Picnic Area and stop for a spot of lunch. When you’re ready, continue down Seaton Down Hill until you reach a left turn for Traceys Avenue and continue along Homer Lane, before turning onto Barnards Hill Lane, onto Harepath Road before returning to Valley View.
