Shopping locally can make a big difference on the local economy, even by spending a small amount, so this October, support local businesses and help the economy in Ottery St Mary with Magic Tenner Fortnight.

Taking place from 7th -21st October, shops and businesses across Ottery will taking part, including Rabbit&Co, Roberts and The Curious Otter. They, along with other retailers will be collaborating to offer £10 deals to encourage visitors to shop local and independent. According to a study by the New Economics Foundation, every £10 with local businesses generates £50 of local activity and keeps the shops of Ottery St Mary open, due to it being re-spent around the tent.

The Magic Tenner Fortnight is sponsored by the British Independent Retailers’ Association who works as the voice of independent retail and other high street businesses, fighting for a level playing field for the independent sector. Chris Sand, founder of Totally Locally, said: “The Magic Tenner event is a good way for shops to support their communities by offering great deals and for the community to support those shops that make our towns better places. It really is a win/win situation.”

So support local this October and shop in Ottery St Mary during Magic Tenner Fortnight from 7th-21st October.
