Honiton is a fascinating market town in East Devon. 
Honiton's history goes back as far as the Iron Age, but much of the modern layout is from around 1200, sadly a series of fires destroyed much of the town's medieval history, but its tradition of lace making and pottery continued and to this day, it is famous for lace and antiques.

Honiton has always been known for its antiques, lace making and pottery and is a great place for antiques shopping, with a huge number of well established antique shops. It also has a traditional, market town style high street with a mix of independent and high street stores.

Honiton doesn't have its own beach, however you are close to the Jurassic Coast and have a host of nearby beaches to explore, including:

What is Honiton known for?

Honiton is a lively market town most famous for its lace and pottery and being regarded as the antique capital of the south west.
Queen Victoria's wedding dress was made using Honiton Lace, you can find out more about lace making in Honiton by visiting Allhallows Museum in the town.

Honiton boasts a High Street Market three days per week, mainly independent retailers. Every Tuesday, Thursday & Saturday.

What is Charter Day in Honiton? 

Honiton Charter Day is a fun family event celebrating the granting of the Royal Charter to Honiton. The Royal charter for a weekly market was first granted in 1257, and the event has been celebrated in the town annually since 2007.
