What's on Plymouth

If you’re a fan of all things nautical then Plymouth is the place to visit. Not only is there plenty of history and heritage, there are plenty of maritime events for you to get involved with alongside sight seeing and learning about the past.

Top attractions, such as the National Marine Aquarium have regularly changing events calendars, so whether you’re there for the day or for a couple of days, you’ll find plenty of things to do in an interesting and family friendly atmosphere.

Because Plymouth is a university town, you’ll find a lot of culture and loads of vibrant events taking place all over the city. You’ll find everything from celebrity chefs hosting cookery workshops, courses and appearing at food festivals, art shows, music performances and special occasions like the Armed Forces Day National Events. The British Fireworks Championships and the Marine City Festivals are both regular events in the city and are well worth visiting for. The amount of things going on make Plymouth a great place in Devon to go whatever the time of year. Plymouth is also home to the largest shopping-centre in the south west, outside of Bristol and is surrounded by some amazing architecture, so even those that aren’t that into shopping will find something to look at!

Whether you fancy messing about in boats, learning a new skill, sampling gin you’ve made yourself, watching some sport, clapping along at a theatre or browsing the stalls at a festival or two, then Plymouth is an ideal destination. There is so much going on, you might want to start adding a few of the events to your itineraries so you can be sure that you’ll be able to fit it all in! There will be events and activities to suit a wide range of tastes, abilities and budgets.
