What's on Exeter

Being one of Devon’s most popular city locations, Exeter has plenty going on.

It has a history that spans over 2,000 years, so naturally you’ll find plenty of events and activities that focus on the city’s heritage. In the city centre you’ll find the cathedral, which regularly hosts a range of events. The city also has numerous museums and galleries which offer events and activities all year around. One of Devon’s biggest museums can be found in the city and not only does it offer free entry, but also has a heavy rotation of events and activities.

Professional theatre productions regularly make the rounds in Exeter, so theatre goers will be sure of a great night out. Similarly, music gigs by big name artists and popular local musicians are held regularly in venues across the city. Whatever your tastes, Exeter has something to offer. There is a year round calendar of exciting events, including the annual Festival of south West Food and Drink, which is every April and the Christmas Markets every December and the Craft Festivals that take place in the summer. Exeter is also a sporting capital, with a rugby and football team that attract big crowds to their matches.

If sport is your thing, you’ll not want to miss out on a trip to Exeter, as well as watching sports matches, you’ll also have the chance to join in with bike rides, walks and canoe sailing, both with or without a guide – whatever your preference and the region’s largest indoor climbing wall can also be found in Exeter. These attractions offer additional events and activities for visitors during peak times, so you’ll always be sure of something to do.

For the fashion conscious, Exeter has an amazing shopping centre and pop up markets occasionally make an appearance so you can get a few interesting bits and pieces when browsing the high street.
