South West Coast Path in Budleigh Salterton

As the longest waymarked footpath in England, the South West Coast Path is a great way of exploring the coastal routes around Budleigh Salterton. The whole path stretches over 600 miles, starting at Minehead in Somerset all the way through Devon and into Dorset. 95 miles of the path covers the Jurassic Coast, giving you easy access to Budleigh Salterton and the surrounding areas. 

The Jurassic Coast

You can explore parts of the Jurassic Coast by following the South West Coast Path. Starting in Exmouth, you can follow the waymarked routes following the South West Coast Path, through Budleigh Salterton where you can uncover over 180 million years of history. 

Though its called the Jurassic Coast, the UNESCO World Heritage site actually shows evidence of three different geological time periods, the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous, which date back to 250 million to 65 million years ago. The Jurassic Coast is famous for fossil hunting and those beautiful cluff sides, just be careful of cliff falls and be sure to follow all instructions along the way.
