Come to Budleigh Salterton this winter ❄️
Surrounded by a wonderfully diverse landscape and with views along the Jurassic Coast, Budleigh Salterton is delightfully rural while also enjoying everything that comes with being on the coast. The beach is a particularly big draw, especially for families as the water is well known for being safe and clean, making it ideal for paddling, rockpooling and skimming stones.
For those of you looking for a walking holiday, the South West Coast Path is easily accessible from Budleigh Salterton, giving you a range of walks to choose from, while various companies and organisations offer a number of sports and games. The whole region is a haven for cyclists and Budleigh is no different. If you love embarking on an adventure or two with your bike, head to the Green where you can join one of East Devon’s most popular cycling routes that follows along former rail tracks towards Exmouth. You can even hire bikes for the day, should the mood take you!
Perhaps the most well-known event in Budleigh Salterton’s calendar is the annual Literary Festival which features an enviable list of authors and regularly hosts talks, workshops and activities perfect for visiting bibliophiles. Endorsed by best-selling author Hilary Mantel, this is a must-visit event for those that love reading books, collecting books or those that harbour dreams of writing a couple themselves. There are fewer places more inspirational than Budleigh Salterton. If you are on the hunt for some awe-inspiring views, on a clear day, you can see as far as Portland Bill in nearby Dorset – it’s the perfect photography location!
