If you’re heading to Sidmouth for a half term break this October, you’ll find lots to entertain you. From film screenings at the Radway to days at the town museums, the abundance of open space to explore and the nearby local attractions, there is plenty to keep the whole family occupied. Here are some of the things that are taking place in East Devon over the half term break to add to your itineraries.

If you’re counting the pennies this half term, visit the Donkey Sanctuary in Sidmouth. Not only is it free entry, but their Hide and Treat trail being held especially for half term is just £5 and there is a treat at the end! The trail is suitable for the whole family and you can take as much, or as little, time to complete it as you like. Or if you’re not into celebrating Halloween, there is still all the daily talks, exhibits, gardens walking routes, donkeys and a new play area to enjoy – all with free entry and free parking!

At Crealy Theme Park on the outskirts of Exeter there are several Halloween events taking place for half term, including the return of some of their spookiest attractions and a special late night opening event on 31st October for Annual Pass Holders. In nearby Beer, Pecorama has the Andeer Line back on 29th October. Based on the Bernina Line in Switzerland, the Andeer Line gives visitors the chance to operate a HOm scale model railway and using your smart phone, you can take the train from St Moritz to Tirano! Pecorama is home to world famous model railway track manufacturer, PECO and has plenty of things to discover, as well as a beautiful garden to explore

On 22nd October, there is a world-wide Pumpkin Picking event with events being held across the region, including in Sidmouth and Exmouth, so if you need a pumpkin or two for carving, head here to find out more. There is a Halloween Pleasure Ride taking place on Sunday, 30th October over Woodbury Common organised by the Exe Equestrian Club, more information is available here. and a Halloween Party at the Gateway Theatre in Seaton.
