The South West Coast Path
The whole path is over 600 miles long, so you won’t be able to explore the whole thing but even if you just walk around the local areas of the path, you’ll find plenty of lovely views. From Sidmouth you can easily walk to Seaton, Otterton and a whole host of other places in Devon.
While we’re on the subject of the coast, Sidmouth is located along the Jurassic Coast and has both the Sidmouth Town beach and Jacobs Ladder beach for you to enjoy. Plus, you can walk along towards Ladram Bay which isn’t that far and spend time at this very pretty, secluded bay.
Norman Lockyer Observatory
Even if you’re not that into space, this is a fabulous place to spend a few hours with the while family. The team there are passionate about the night sky and will happily talk to you about everything from meteor showers and more.
The Dartmoor National Park is a must for anyone who loves the great outdoors and it isn’t too far from Sidmouth so make sure to add it to your plans!
The local museum is perfect for those of you who want to find out more about the local area. After you’ve spent some time following the Blue Plaque trail and learning more about the Sidmouth of the past, head to the museum and find out about the Jurassic Coast and put the plaques into context!
