Sidmouth TIC welcomed some visitors all the way from Switzerland this week, as members of Le Locle Twinning Circle and their local hosts popped in to say hello during their visit. Sidmouth and Le Locle, one of the smallest towns in Switzerland.

Sidmouth and Le Locle have been twinned since 1984 and the two town’s twinning associations regularly arrange visits between the two. This year, 19 residents from Le Locle arrived in Sidmouth on 18th June with a busy programme of activities planned to really show off Sidmouth and the surrounding area. Part of the itinerary included a boat trip around the Jurassic Coast.

One of the visitors, Martin Kasparek is an accomplished organist and so delighted the Swiss and Sidmouhians alike with a performance on the organ at the parish church of St Giles and St Nicholas. The event was free to all with a collection for donations at the end.

During their visit, the group stopped in to the Sidmouth TIC where they learned more about Sidmouth and the Sid Valley. In previous years, the guests have enjoyed walks around the Civic Arboretum, complete with a map printed in French to help them navigate one of Sidmouth’s best loved walking routes.
