With the impressive cliffs of the Jurassic Coast, the beautiful countryside and picturesque towns and villages full of Regency architecture, there are fewer places to incite romance than East Devon.

If you want to inject some amorous energy into your Valentine’s Day, check out our suggestions for romantic things to do in East Devon.

Go for romantic walk

East Devon has some of the best walking routes, not only do you have the South West Coastal Path, various beaches to explore and the Jurassic Coast, but also the East Devon Way and a whole host of other walking routes around the region.

In Seaton, we recommend the circular routes around the estuary or if you’re elsewhere, there is the Otter Valley walk in Budleigh Salterton, Combe Woods route in Honiton and the walks around the Byes in Sidmouth.

Enjoy a staycation

There are plenty of romantic places to stay around East Devon, perfect for a get away with just the two of you. From luxury hotels to cute and cosy cottages, there are plenty of options around the region.

Go for a massage

Relax and rejuvenate together by booking a massage or other couples’ spa sessions while in East Devon. Many of the region’s hotels and leisure centres have gym and spa areas where you can be pampered in luxury together. Some of the hotels will also offer couple’s packages, so you can combine your massages with a stay, dinner or even a traditional Devon Cream Tea.

Visit one of the region’s picturesque towns and villages

Taking a walk around some of East Devon’s tiny villages and towns is one way to enjoy a spot of romance. Ottery St Mary is the birthplace of Samuel Taylor Coleridge, the poet. Poetry can be very romantic and he spent a lot of time with great romantics, so you might be inspired by wandering around his old stomping ground. Another romantic place to visit for the day is the village of Luppitt, which is on the outskirts of Honiton. It's picturesque with narrow lanes and ancient cottages but the real draw is the fact that its original name was Love Pit.
