East Devon is a great place to visit if you’re planning to spend time enjoying the great outdoors – not only do you have the incredible Jurassic Coast but there is also the East Devon National Landscape and the East Devon Way – the chances to get out and about are endless!
If you’re staying in or near Ottery, you’re lucky to be on the doorstep of lots of lovely cycle routes, including the below!
Sidmouth, Beer and Ottery St Mary Loop
This ride is fairly easy to follow as it is on mostly well paved surfaces, however there are sections that are a little more challenging.
Ottery to Exmouth and Budleigh
One of the easiest rides in the area is this route as it is pretty flat throughout and follows the lane between Ottery St Mary and Fluxton. This one is also nice because it has some lovely views of the ocean as you head through Exmouth and on to Budleigh.
There are several National Cycle Routes through East Devon, including route two which will take you from Exmouth through to Budleigh Salterton. Alternatively, there are several routes around nearby Woodbury Common. Alternatively, the East Devon Trail is a 180 km route that was built with bike riding in mind. There are several routes to enjoy, including an Otterton to Beer route that takes you through some very picturesque areas.
