Sidmouth Town Council earlier this year confirmed the exciting line-up for the hugely popular annual Sidmouth Regatta Airshow which this year returns on Friday 25 August 2023 as part of the Regatta weekend. Organisers are now appealing for volunteers, collectors and to help collect towards the show and secure its future as an annual town event.
Collectors are a vital part of the Airshow Team, helping to support and fund this annual event. If anyone is able to offer help to be part of that team, please contact Sidmouth Town Council at firstname.lastname@example.org and the organising team will then be in touch. Volunteers are needed from 4pm across the seafront, Salcombe and Peak Hills and Connaught Gardens where donations will be taken through buckets and contactless payment. As a collector, you will still be able to watch the display. Without enough volunteers, the financial future of the show for 2024 is put at risk.
With the 2023 Airshow line-up now finalised, the Council earlier this year confirmed that the show will commence at 5.00pm with a return to Sidmouth by Team Raven with their Van's RV-8 mono-wing aircraft who wowed crowds last year. Following, will be the two principal aircraft who defended the skies above Britain in 1940 with an RAF Spitfire and Hurricane from the RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight taking to the skies over the sea.
Visiting Sidmouth for the first time, will be the Stampe Formation Display Team which is an Airshow act in the finest traditions of classical barnstorming aviation from the 1930s and 40s. Next up will be an exciting new team in the Airshow world performing their very first season called ‘The Titans’. The Titans are an original two-ship display team, bringing a unique pairing of very dissimilar aircraft.
Creating the usual finale to the Airshow for 2023, will be the RAF Aerobatic Team, the Red Arrows who are sure to delight crowds with their perfectly synchronised flying and manoeuvrers. Sidmouth Regatta Airshow 2023 is shaping up to be highlight of the year and a fitting start to the Regatta Weekend of events details of which will be publicised shortly.
Times and team participation is based upon aircraft availability and weather conditions. Details will be publicised closer to the show. Keep an eye out for future details on the participating teams at www.visitsidmouth.gov.uk , www.sidmouth.gov.uk and Facebook for up to the minute details, timings and other announcements on the event.
