Sidmouth Folk Festival’s crowdfunding campaign to help secure the future of the festival and making sure that it can return to its full glory has hit a milestone, reaching £60,000. They are now just £10,000 away from their target.

Speaking on their website, Colin Trussell, the festival’s Local Sponsorship Co-ordinator, said: “A huge thanks to all our supporters and friends who have helped us get to this point, our £70,000 target is now clearly in sight!

“We have been cheered enormously by the many heartwarming messages we have received and the special place that Sidmouth Folk Festival seems to hold in all your lives. We want to give a particular mention to all the local businesses, organisations and individuals who, at a difficult time for them as well, have dug deep to provide us with exciting Rewards. Sidmouth is a magical place during Folk Festival week and the town would not be the same without it. Thanks to everyone locally who recognises this and has helped us with the campaign – we really appreciate it!

“We now need to maintain the momentum to help us hit our target and hopefully exceed it. More Rewards are still being added so keep checking the campaign page and tell all your friends! Spread the word and help us keep Sidmouth Folk Festival as a vital part of the local scene for many years to come.”

2020 is the first time in the festival’s 65 year history that there hasn’t been an event in the town. The pandemic hit the organisers hard and in order for them to bounce back next year stronger than ever, and as importantly, to support the wider festival community and local businesses, they need support. The crowdfunding campaign offers a huge range of exclusive rewards for those that pledge their support to the festival.
