Sidmouth in Bloom’s contribution to the autumn Chelsea Flower Show has received the royal seal of approval following a viewing from HRH the Princess Royal.

The team of volunteers from Sidmouth in Bloom were chosen to exhibit at RHS Chelsea Flower Show as part of the South West in Bloom stand, which featured two floral elephants which were designed by Sidmouth in Bloom’s chair, Lynette Talbot. The elephants were a popular display, even featuring on the BBC coverage of the show.

Speaking to reporters, Cllr Ian Barlow, Chair of Sidmouth Town Council, said: “We are proud to support the excellent work of Sidmouth in Bloom. The visual beauty provided by the volunteer team in and around our town benefits our residents, businesses and visitors alike, shows how strong our community is and helps build a better environment for us all.”

Now the show has finished, the Sidmouth in Bloom team will begin planning next year’s floral sculptures which in the past has featured a peacock called Fred and even their own version of the BFG.

As a volunteer organisation, they are always on the hunt for more people to help out, if you’re interested, or want to find out more, email info@sidmouthinbloom.org
