Visitors coming to Sidmouth with wheelchairs, mobility scooters or pushchairs can now enjoy easier access to the beach thanks to new beach matting which has been installed for the summer season.
The matting makes it easier to use mobility aids, wheelchairs, pushchairs and buggies by creating a level surface across the beach, so that more people can access the seafront and enjoy beach days over the summer holidays.
The accessible matting can be found at the western end of the Esplanade, by the Lifeguard Hut and the giant deckchair.
Funding for the matting is thanks to East Devon District Council and Sidmouth Town Council as part of a wider commitment to be a more inclusive place for people to live and visit.
