Sidmouth School of Art is welcoming renowned photographer JJ Waller back to the town for a special preview of his recent Sidmouth photoshoot on 20th November at the Arts Centre at the Manor Pavilion. JJ was Sidmouth School of Art’s photographer in residence during the Folk Festival, touring the streets, beach and other folk festival venues to capture the town, its people, performers and visitors, capturing Sidmouth and its unique character.

JJ’s visit also included a packed schedule of photo shoots curated by Sidmouth School of Art, covering the town’s groups and organisations. On his return to Sidmouth, JJ will be shooting more community groups, and any who have not yet taken part are invited to email info@sidmouthart.org to book a slot.

The photos from the Folk Festival and these new images will form the Sidmouth Collection which will be previewed on 20th November by JJ, followed by a Q&A session. Tickets can be booked online here https://buytickets.at/sidmouthschoolofart/1418005

As part of this ongoing project, one of the images will soon be displayed on the Sidmouth Wallspace, a public art gallery overlooking the Ham Carpark, while a physical photographic exhibition is being planned for next year. 58 submissions were received in response to an open call to submit photos that best described Sidmouth as part of the Your Town My Town project running during the Folk Festival’s 70th-anniversary event.
