The popular Isca Ensemble will be returning to Sidmouth on 16th December as part of the town’s annual Christmas Concert.

Music lovers will not want to miss the opportunity to catch the orchestra who performed at Exeter Cathedral in October. Joining them for the performance is renowned violinist, Joo Yeon Sir, who will be making a welcome return to the town. As part of the performance, she will perform Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto, under the direction of Robert Hendy.

This is not one to be missed, Joo Yeon Sir is one of the world’s leading violin soloists having won a number of prestigious prizes since moving to London from her native South Korea. After being trained at the Purcell School of Music and now teaching both there and at the Royal College of Music. Among her many accolades are Young Composer of the year Award; the Royal College of Music’s President’s Award; and the Royal Philarmonic Society’s Emily Anderson Award among others.   

She will be performing Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto in E minor, a piece that was composed in the 1800s and is regarded as one of the greatest violin concertos of all time and is one of the most popular and frequently performed concertos in history. The ensemble will begin with Bizet’s Carmen Suite and will conclude with a Schumann symphony.
