Coming to East Devon in January? Don’t worry about breaking the bank after Christmas, there’s a host of things to see and do in the region – the majority of which are free! Here are our suggestions for free things to do across East Devon this month.
Take a coastal walk
Whether you want a stroll around Sidmouth Town Beach and Jacobs Ladder or you want to properly explore the coast, there are a host of walks around East Devon to discover, like the South West Coast Path and the East Devon Way. You can also enjoy some lovely walks around Seaton Wetlands and the Ottery Estuary Nature Reserve.
Visit a museum
Did you know many of the region’s museums and galleries offer free entry? If the weather isn’t on your side or you’re looking to discover something new, head to one of the museums that are dotted around the area. Honiton’s museum is free and gives a great insight into the town’s lace industry, while the town’s art gallery with its ever-rotating exhibitions is also free to visit.
Meet the donkeys
Sidmouth’s Donkey Sanctuary is free to visit and is a great way to spend a few hours. The herd of friendly rescue donkeys are always happy to make new friends and the site is also dog friendly!
