Sidmouth's Isca Ensemble Southwest, has unveiled its latest season of classical concerts, featuring three performances at Sidmouth Parish Church and two special chamber events. The orchestra, led by music director Roger Hendy, has consistently received high praise for its performances, often featuring renowned national and international soloists.
The first guest soloist of the season will be Jordan Black, who will perform Mozart's Clarinet Concerto on Saturday, 1st March. Following becoming a finalist in the BBC Young Musician of the Year, Jordan has carved out a successful career as a soloist and principal clarinettist with the Philharmonia and other leading orchestras in the UK and abroad.
Other pieces to be performed in the March programme include Smetana’s delightful Vltava and Beethoven’s Symphony No 5, both of which will be performed in Sidmouth for the first time.
The orchestra will return on Saturday, 21st June, with Devonian violinist, Joel Munday. The programme includes Mendelssohn’s Hebrides Overture, Beethoven’s Eroica Symphony, and Philip Glass’s Second Violin Concerto, The American Four Seasons.
Other events will take place on 24th June, featuring Joel Munday and Parisian cellist Aurélien Pinchon. Mundy will also return on 7th November, with pianist, Julian Trevelyan.
The Isca Ensemble will also perform the Brahms Double Concerto with Joel and Aurélien on 6th December.
