The 10th anniversary of the Sidmouth and East Devon Walking Festival will take place from 16th-22nd September.
It has been a decade since the festival first launched and has retained its full programme of 24 daily walks, including the opportunity to walk the entire length of the East Devon Way, a 40 miles route over 5 days. All walks are free of charge and led by experienced guides but must be booked in advance. The only charge is £10 per day for the East Devon Way to cover the cost of transport there and back to Sidmouth.
As well as the East Devon Way, there are 19 other guided walks for all interests and fitness levels, including an inclusive walk suitable for mobility scooters and wheelchairs, a story telling walk with local author, Janet Dowling, and a heritage trail led by former mayor of Ottery St Mary, Roger Giles.
Founders of the festival, Norma Self and Ted Swan continue to be members of the East Devon Ramblers. They told reporters: “We’re delighted to showcase the East Devon Way at the Sidmouth and East Devon Walking Festival. This trail offers a remarkable opportunity to discover the hidden gems of East Devon while enjoying the physical and mental benefits of walking in nature. Whether you’re an experienced hiker or novice walker, this festival promises an unforgettable experience.”
