RHS Rosemoor is an enchanting 65-acre garden offering year-round interest. Visit us for inspiration, tranquillity or simply a marvellous day out while in the Devon region, Rosemoor is nestled in a sheltered valley in between Dartmoor and Exmoor National Parks, and blends formal and informal plantings giving a wonderful effect.
If you're looking for a great family day out, come along to RHS Rosemoor.
More than a garden, Rosemoor is a unique place that people of all ages return to time and again for ideas, inspiration or simply to enjoy a fun family day out. Spanning 65 acres, Rosemoor is set in the beautiful Torridge Valley in Great Torrington.
Torrington itself is a great place to visit, either for the day or as a holiday destination. It is one of Devon’s greatest heritage sites, it was previously the site of the Battle of Great Torrington during the English Civil War. RHS Rosemoor is a million miles away from the violence of the past, it is an enchanting garden to visit, whatever the season. Cherry blossom trees can be seen in the spring, it features the largest rose gardens in the South West, the iconic hot garden dazzles with bright colours during the summer and the woodlands offer beautiful colours during the autumn and winter seasons.
There is something for everyone to enjoy from the stunning gardens (including Lady Anne's original garden, the arboretum and the cottage garden) to the Woodland Walks which offer interesting glimpses of local wildlife and wild flowers. Rosemoor also has two play areas 'The Brash' and the ‘Copse’ – ideal for a family friendly picnic and which encourage creative play in the woods - a range of seasonal Children's Trails, drop in craft workshops and lots of exciting activities for the whole family especially during school holidays.
Choose from a range of beautiful gardens to explore, including the Rose Gardens, the Hot Garden, The Model Gardens and more. The Potager and Cottage Garden is a veg garden with a difference and is one of the most popular areas of the Rosemoor area. The Potager has an ornamental kitchen garden, a style that has its roots in the formal gardens of the French Renaissance, it’s a must for anyone with an interest in history or different styles of planting through the years.
Rosemoor holds over 70 special events throughout the year which include creative workshops for children and adults, family days, craft fairs, musical and dramatic evening performances and horticultural walks round the garden. For information please ring 01805 624067 for a FREE brochure. For anyone thinking of getting married in Devon, it would be difficult to find a more perfect venue than Rosemoor. There are a wide selection of packages available for couples wanting to hold their special day in the gardens. Choose from one of ten romantic venues throughout the garden all of which are licensed to hold wedding ceremonies, all have their own unique charms and some are the closest you can get to getting married outdoors in the country.
You can also stay at the luxurious Rosemoor House – offering three holiday apartments all year around set in the former home of Lady Anne Palmer. Guests staying at the house have unique access to the gardens outside normal opening hours.
Rosemoor is open all year round (except Christmas Day) seven days a week from 10am-6pm (5pm October - March). There is a licensed Restaurant, Tea Room, Plant Centre and Shop on site and free parking. The delicious award-winning food served every day in a restaurant with views over the garden. The restaurant has won Best Garden Centre Restaurant Wales and South West at the Garden Centre Association Awards for four years in a row. The garden provides the restaurant with fruit and vegetables which is used in all the dishes, including the chutneys and jams.
The Sunday Carvery is also a popular choice, including produce sourced from the Exmoor National Park.
