Combe Martin

Secluded sandy beaches, great rock pools, dramatic coastal scenery and the nearby family friendly attractions make Combe Martin an ideal destination for coastal holidays.
The village is surrounded by beautiful sights with the expanse of the Exmoor National Park on one side and the North Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the other. A visit to Combe Martin will guarantee you stunning views, a peaceful cove and the picturesque harbour.

The town regularly celebrates its heritage and quirks, annually there is a traditional ceremony known as the Hunting of the Earl of Rone, a Pagan festival which takes place every spring.

Explore the great outdoors

The famous South West Coast Path runs through the village allowing you to easily access the surrounding areas as well as enjoying the great outdoors. It isn’t just the coastal paths that make this a great place for those that love the great outdoors, Combe Martin has a whole host of trails and walks for you to explore. For instance, hike along to Great Hangman (the tallest sea cliff in mainland Britain), or follow the 230 hidden steps down to Golden Cove for some spectacular views.
Being along the South West Coast Path also means that Combe Martin is also home to several dog-friendly pubs and local stores; great for provisions along your journey. If you fancy getting out on the water, hire a kayak or stand-up paddle board in the village and take to the calm waters in the bay.

Whatever you’re into, Combe Martin is an ideal base for those seeking a sense of adventure.

The coast

Combe Martin’s central feature is the harbour and its coast line. While being a small village, it has a lot going for it – like most of the towns and villages along the coast, it is ideal for those wanting to get out on the water, with businesses all along the seafront offering equipment and tuition in a wide range of watersports. There are also several spots perfect for fishing and sailing.
The beach is well known for having some of the best rock pools in Devon thanks to its proximity to the National Park. All along the coast here are secret inlets, caves and secluded coves giving you plenty of places to explore during your visit. The beach also provides a stunning back drop to those who love photography, for the very best pictures, head up to the high points of Little Hangman and Great Hangman, where on a clear day you can see across the moor too.

Fun for all the family

This unique village is perfect for those looking for a family friendly holiday destination. As well as the coast, which is perfect for rock pools, swimming and building sandcastles, there are a host of attractions perfect for the whole family to keep you amused, whatever the weather.

One of the biggest draws to this area is the Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park, where you can swim with sea lions, meet the meerkats and see the animatronic dinosaurs in action! The newly refurbished Combe Martin museum is also well worth a visit, with a regular programme of exciting activities, creative workshops and fascinating talks planned throughout the year.

Many of the accommodation options in and around the village are also family focused with year round entertainment and children’s clubs so that both the kids and the grown ups can enjoy themselves during their down time!
