Back in the summer, a young couple from Bristol had Exmoor Zoo seeing red – literally! Earlier in the year, the zoo welcomed a pair of red pandas who were being rehomed from Bristol Zoo, who, after settling into their new home gave birth to twins!
This half term, visitors are encouraged to stop by the enclosure and keeping a close eye out for the babies.
Speaking about the new arrivals, a representative from Exmoor Zoo said: “When Bristol Zoo moved, some of its animals and birds found new homes with other BIAZA zoos.
“Shifumi and Pan, a pair of Red Pandas, joined the residents at Exmoor Zoo and this summer, we were delighted when twin female cubs were born to the pair for the first time!”
The twins were born in early June and their parents kept them hidden away for around 90 days before they made their first appearance for visitors. Now, a little older and bolder, they are still very elusive but delight visitors with their sporadic appearances. If you’re visiting Exmoor Zoo this half term, be sure to stop by the red pandas and see if you can catch a glimpse of the twins!
