Where to enjoy winter flavours in North Devon

Winter food is the best kind of food – hearty roasts, stews and delectable desserts, the menus available at this time of year are the perfect way to battle against the colder weather and longer nights.

This is the ideal time of year for enjoying meals out with friends in the run up to the festive season, so we’ve compiled a list of some of the best places for a festive gathering in North Devon.

For a real taste of North Devon, stop by the Garden Restaurant at RHS Rosemoor – here the menus are created using produce straight from their gardens. Anything that can’t be grown at Rosemoor, is sourced from the local area – so everything here is created in the region for a real taste of the West Country. Garden entry is not required to visit the restaurant, but we recommend taking a walk around before stopping for refreshments.

Not sure if you want something formal or informal? There are a range of dining options at the Mole Resort. The Cellars Pub is full of hearty, comfort food, while the Devon View Restaurant is the winner of two AA Rosettes seven years in a row! Elsewhere, their bistro is a great place for fuss free lunches for meeting up with friends and family.

Of course one of the things North Devon is most famous for is the coastline, so for a meal with a sea view, check out the Beachside Grill, which is part of Saunton Sands Hotel. With incredible views over the coast, and comforting favourites, this is a great place for grabbing a few hours with friends and family before we all get bogged down with Christmas shopping and festivities.

The Park Hotel in Barnstaple’s Seasons Brasserie is offering delightful festive lunches from 25^th November through December. If you want to treat yourself, there are also festive Afternoon Teas available and of course evening meals – whichever you go for, you’ll find delectable dishes and a wonderfully decorative atmosphere.

Nearby, there is the Park’s sister hotel, the Imperial, where you’ll find the Arlington Restaurant. Here you can enjoy award winning fine dining. Like at the Seasons, you can also indulge in a festive lunchtime menu, ideal for meeting up with friends and family or treating yourself to afternoon tea.
