Once lockdown restrictions lift, it won’t just be you that will want to go somewhere different, your four legged friends will too, so here are a few suggestions for dog friendly beaches you can visit in North Devon.

Please note, this is the information intended for future use, the UK is currently under a national lockdown and travel is not permitted. For more information about the restrictions, travel and the latest guidance, please visit gov.uk/coronavirus.

There are beaches all across the North Devon region that are happy for dogs to visit at certain times of year or have restrictions in place, but here are five beaches where you and your dog can play to your hearts content!

Saunton Sands

Not only is it an award winning beach and perfect for watersports enthusiasts, but dogs are allowed all over the beach all year around.

Putsborough Sands

One part of the  beach has restrictions from April to October, so do check local signage on arrival.

Woolacombe Beach

The beach is split into three zones, one of which is completely dog friendly, one is ok for dogs as long as they are kept on a lead and one is off limits.

Hele Bay

This is a much smaller bay, so you may need to keep an eye out for other visitors, but the beach is open to dogs all year and being so close to Ilfracombe, it’s a great place for visitors.

Watermouth

Another small bay, this one is also open to dogs all year around!
