Snowdrop Valley has returned for 2025 – this annual event on Exmoor sees the whole valley covered in snowdrops, giving the first sight of spring.
Running from 25th January through to 23rd February, Snow Drop Valley is a privately owned, remote valley in a hidden part of Exmoor close to Wheddon Cross. Throughout the month that the snowdrops are in bloom, there are various walking routes to enjoy, some only covering 1 mile and others going further, so you can choose a route that suits you. You can pick up maps of the walk from the car park between 9 am and 4pm every day, so there are plenty of opportunities to explore something different each time.
Fancy coming along? Here’s what you need to know.
Snowdrop Valley is on privately owned land, however, while the snowdrops are in bloom, the local authorities allow visitors and provide maps and transport links.
- Wear warm, waterproof clothing and sturdy footwear as it can get cold and the ground can be uneven
- Dogs must be kept on a lead and you must clean up after them.
- Light refreshments are available at the market car park
Be aware that there will be alternative parking on 12th Feb to accommodate the local market, so follow all signage. There is transport available to the valley, provided by Red Stag Safari, they drive visitors to the valley and this allows for more accessible routes without stiles.
You can find more information here.
Parking for Snowdrop Valley
The main car park will be at the Cutcombe Cattle Market (use the postcode TA24 7DT for SatNavs). There is no vehicular access to the valley, so you will need to walk from here unless you take the transport provided by Red Stag Safari. There is a charge per car. The car park will have a volunteer hub where you can find maps and other local information.
During market days, alternative parking will be available. Look out for the signs.
If you don’t have access to a car, you can access the valley on foot via several footpaths and bridleways.
