According to new research, 2025 is the year of the staycation with more people choosing a holiday at Croyde in North Devon than going to places like Spain and Bali.
The research undertaken by travel company Beachlets has indicated that Croyde Bay, the surfing capital of North Devon has emerged as an unexpected favourite for families, couples and surfers.
Mark Hutchins, travel expert at Beachlets, told the Express: “Staycations have become more than just a passing trend. Since 2024, search interest in staycations in the UK has grown by 9772%, outgrowing interest in international hotspots like Bali, Dubai, Goa and even Spain.”
With its beautiful beach, world class surfing, stunning coastal walks and top accommodation, it’s no wonder that Croyde has become so popular among holiday makers. Sitting on the UK’s Surf Reserve and forming part of the North Devon National Landscape, Croyde is a haven for watersports enthusiasts and those that love being in nature. You’ll find numerous surfing schools for all abilities and equipment available for hire throughout the village and into the neighbouring areas of Braunton and Saunton, as well as popular walks, like the National Trust’s Baggy Point.
