It’s that time of year again when we all start rushing to get food, drink and gifts in time for the big day. Luckily, there are plenty of opportunities to stock up on presents for the nearest and dearest as well as locally sourced food and drink right here in North Devon.

For something special and unique, head to Dartington Crystal. Not only can you pick up a selection of lovely glassware, either to decorate your home or table this Christmas or to give as gifts, but there is also the factory experience, so you can see exactly how these hand crafted pieces are made. They also offer a personalisation service, so you can really tailor your gifts.

For a range of familiar brands and favourite items at up to half the RRP, make sure to visit Affinity Devon – as an outlet centre, you’ll find highstreet fashion at bargain prices, as well as plenty of eateries and more so you can make a whole day out of your shopping expedition. They are open every day, except Christmas Day itself, so even those of you who like to leave it until the last minute are covered. On the lead up to the big day, there will be late night shopping available, as well as their own Christmas Market taking place where you can pick up some local crafts and of course, tasty treats.

For a traditional Christmas Market with all the trimmings, Combe Christmas Market in Ilfracombe is back on 29th November. As one of the largest and best loved markets of its kind, you’ll find plenty of stalls offering everything from decorations to home made gifts and lots of festive food to power you through as you explore. With the harbour all decorated for the season, it’s a lovely day out for the whole family.

North Devon is particularly well known for its Pannier Markets and at this time of year, they are delightful places to go and pick up food, drink and gifts.

Barnstaple’s Pannier Market is hosting a Christmas family fun day and market on 17th November, with activities like face paints, bouncy castles and games to distract the kids while you do a little shopping. While at Bideford’s Pannier Market, on 28th November, there is the BideFood Fest Christmas Food Festival with a wonderful selection of food and drink to choose from.

Another great Christmas market to add to your list is the Big Sheep's Christmas Market, running on Saturdays from 7th December through to the end of the month. As the region's biggest indoor Christmas Market, full of unique gifts and tasty treats, as well as the opportunity to explore the farm, this is one for your diaries.

RHS Rosemoor is also hosting their Magic of Christmas Craft and Food Fair between 15th and 17th November. Full of gift inspiration and tasty treats, you can find a host of products from West Country traders and producers!
