Ocean Backpackers is situated close to the picturesque Harbour in Ilfracombe. This cool, clean and friendly Independent Youth Hostel offers excellent facilities for walkers, cyclists, surfers, divers, as well as families, schools and activity groups. A self-catering kitchen, dining area and communal lounge with free internet/wi-fi, give this happening hostel a homely feel whilst comfortable rooms and spectacular surroundings make an idyllic retreat. Large secure basement caters for bicycles and surf boards.
Ocean Backpackers provides excellent budget rates with weekly discounts available. The whole 54 bed hostel can be hired for exclusive use. We are annually inspected by Ilfracombe Tourist Information Centre and are proud to have been awarded a Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence for 2019 and a Travellers Award from Trip Advisor for 2020.

FROM LONDON
Take the M4 until you reach Bristol. Take the M5 and head South. At junction 27 take the A361 signposted Barnstaple. Stay on the A361 until you reach Barnstaple and follow the signs to Ilfracombe.
FROM THE WEST
Take the A39 up to Barnstaple and then follow signs to Ilfracombe.
FROM EXETER
Take the M5 or the A37 to Barnstaple and then follow the signs.
ONCE IN ILFRACOMBE
At the roundabout at Mullacott Cross (Restaurant/Caravan site "The Depot") go straight across and descend the hill into the town. At the first set of traffic lights (DIY shop on corner) turn left, drive for 1km past the Landmark Theater (two domes) and continue onto a one way street. We are the big blue building just past the church on the right. There is parking for 6 cars at the rear of the Hostel.
By coach-
National Express Coaches from London, Victoria, Heathrow, Birmingham and Taunton terminate in Ilfracombe at the Bandstand Coach Stop. This is a five minute walk from Ocean Backpackers.
By train-
Trains connect from across the country with Exeter. From Exeter hop on the scenic Tarka line railway to Barnstaple and then take the number 21 local bus to Ilfracombe Harbour. (Get off at the St James Place bus stop a minutes walk from the Backpackers.)
