The Topsham Goat Walk is a short but characterful circular walk exploring the riverside paths, historic streets, and estuary views around Topsham. Named after the traditional route once used to graze goats on the common, this walk combines local history with relaxed waterside scenery.

Starting near the quay, the route follows the edge of the River Exe, offering wide views across the estuary, boats at anchor, and abundant birdlife on the mudflats. Flat, well-defined paths make for easy walking as the trail heads out towards open marshland before looping back into the town.

The return section winds through Topsham’s narrow streets and historic buildings, adding a strong sense of place and heritage to the walk. With plenty of benches, cafés, and pubs nearby, it’s an ideal gentle stroll that can easily be paired with refreshments at the end.

Short, scenic, and full of local character, the Goat Walk is perfect for a relaxed wander that showcases the best of Topsham and the Exe Estuary.
