After the uncertainty of the past few years, why not book a getaway in Devon this year? And not just any getaway, but one with something a bit different like a glamping holiday. If you’ve never been glamping before, it is basically glamorous camping – think all the charm of a traditional camping holiday but with added extras, like proper beds, electricity and running water. Some of Devon’s glamping sites even have their own heated baths and hot tubs within your property!

To give you some inspiration, here are eleven examples of amazing glamping opportunities in Devon.

While some of you will love the idea of jumping straight into staying in a tree house or a safari tent, others will no doubt want to ease themselves in by starting out with something a little more solid looking.

If you want a couple of different accommodation options, take a look at Langstone Manor Park in Tavistock.

Set in a sheltered valley on the edge of the Dartmoor National Park, Langstone Manor Park has several camping and mega pods, the large ones even have a double bed and TV in them! Their mega pods also have their own toilets and kitchenettes and a stay in one of these also gives you access to your own private patio with a BBQ and garden furniture for enjoying those amazing sunsets.

One of the reasons why so many people love the idea of camping is the peace and quiet and you can certainly still experience that at Langstone Manor Park, despite its proximity to Tavistock.

If peace and quiet and getting away from everyday life is your reason for choosing a camping holiday, take a look at what is on offer at the Sharpham Estate. They offer a series of mindfulness retreats across a host of different accommodation options, including their Woodland Campsite which features furnished bell tents, so you can really get up close to nature. All their retreats are full board, so you don’t have to worry about cooking and can truly relax and reset.

Another site offering a variety of unique accommodation options is Dittisham Hideaway near Dartmouth.  Here you can find treehouses, shepherd’s huts and even an original American Airstream. Each property is fully equipped with everything you might need for the ultimate glamping experience, some of them have log burners and others even have hot tubs.

It doesn’t matter which option you go for, you’ll find beautiful views and a peaceful stay – plus Dartmouth and the South Devon coast is just a short drive away.

If you like the sound of shepherd’s huts as a glamping option, take a look at Tor Royal Shepherd’s Hut and B&B. The hut features a comfy double bed, underfloor heating, a fully equipped kitchen and its own ensuite with a shower and toilet. The hut is located within the garden of Tor Royal Farm – which was once used to farm the National Park for the royal family. You can even live like a royal during your stay by making use if your private wood fired hot tub!

If you’re the kind of person that likes to have lots to see and do on your doorstep, why not book a glamping trip with Lady’s Mile? This award winning holiday park in Dawlish, just a stone’s throw from the Blue Flag beach at Dawlish Warren has their own glamping area complete with fully equipped Safari Tents.

Much like you would expect from a luxury holiday home or a hotel, the Safari Tents are spacious and have their own hot tubs! Plus, being on the site of a holiday park, guests are welcome to use all the park’s facilities, including the pool, kid’s activities and entertainment.

In nearby Paignton there is Whitehill Country Park who also have glamping options. Here you’ll find fully insulated eco pods that are designed to match the weather, keeping you warm in the colder months and cool in the height of the summer. The pods have electricity and a selection of beds, so they can fit the whole family – it’s just like proper camping, but without the hard, lumpy floors and fighting with tents!

Guests also have access to acres of glorious countryside and woodland, plus heated swimming pools, spas and all the other facilities you would expect from a popular holiday park.

If you feel like you want to dive straight in with your glamping adventure, then make sure to check out Devon Yurt – glamping is what they do and both their yurts look over the Dartmoor National Park.

The yurts have full sized beds, complete with Egyptian cotton furnishings, carpets and a log burner. There is cooking and dining equipment provided and you have your own private garden and paddock, with a fire pit for toasting marshmallows – for those of you who want the authentic camping experience.
