Nature enthusiasts will appreciate the beauty of the National Parks, Exmoor and Dartmoor, where families can enjoy everything from hiking, picknicking and adventure activities, like climbing or just exploring the historical sites and stone circles. Both National Parks are home to two distinct breed of ponies, the Dartmoor and Exmoor Pony, as well as birds of prey and feral goats! Or why not jump on your bikes and enjoy one of the region’s many cycle routes, like the Two Moors Way or the Tarka Trail, which is traffic free and suitable for all levels.
For days out at the beach, you’re spoiled for choice. Woolacombe Beach frequently tops lists for best beaches in the county and is known for its golden sands and excellent surf. During the summer months, many of Devon’s beaches have lifeguards on patrol, as well as plenty of amenities, like cafes, shops and of course, places offering equipment rental or tuition for a range of watersports. Perfect if you fancy visiting the UK’s Surf Reserve.
With charming villages, scenic railways and delicious local cuisine, Devon promises a memorable and enriching experience for a short getaway.
