Devon is a haven for anyone who loves good food, not only is it full of top celebrity chefs, but being that you are surrounded by coasts and fields, many of the restaurants and eateries provide high quality local produce on all their menus.
Devon is famous for its fresh seafood and also for the traditional cream tea, so be sure to check out both of those during your stay at one of the many restaurants at your disposal.
If you’re around Westward Ho! you can’t not visit their only seafront bar and bistro, The Pier House. Not only are you right on the cliff edge overlooking Lundy Island and Bideford Bay, but there is an extensive menu offering a range of different meals throughout the day, so whether you want a proper meal or just a snack, you’ll find something for you here. Westward Ho! is a popular destination for families in North Devon and there are plenty of great places to stay and attractions to visit in the area.

If you’d rather be on the beach so you can take a break from sunbathing or surfing for a bite to eat, the Beachside Grill at Saunton Sands Hotel is the sister café to the luxury hotel overlooks the beautiful Saunton Sands beach, one of the best beaches in the region for surfing and water sport. The menus are full of local sourced ingredients that are slow smoked over hickory wood on Bradley smokers and then grilled over open flames for an authentic and much loved flavour. It’s a great place for holiday makers, visitors and special occasions.
Much like at Saunton Sands, many of Devon’s top hotels offer dining options to both guests and non-residents. There are a whole host of sister hotels across the county, like the Imperial Hotel in Barnstaple, which has a whole host of menus and dining options, from their fine dining restaurant, their bistro and their relaxed lounge. Whichever menu you go for, you can be sure of high quality, sustainably sourced food and a great selection of wines and other beverages. Each of the menus feature the classic traditional fare as well as contemporary cuisine that caters for every taste. The Royal Hotel in Bideford is another great choice for those who are looking for a fine dining experience at all times of day. The hotel’s chefs are committed to using locally sourced ingredients from across the West Country to prepare their imaginative and creative menus, so whenever you visit, you can sample the freshest seasonal produce available.

For those of you that wants to have a great view to eat by, try Gara Rock. At their restaurant you can gaze out through their floor to ceiling windows while enjoying their beloved dishes. Though the menu isn’t as big as some of the chain restaurants you’ll find on the high street, what is on offer at Gara Rock is always fresh and local and dictated by the seasons.
