If you’re planning a trip to Devon for half term this May and you’re on the hunt for things to do, here are a couple of the events that are taking place during the week for you to add to your diaries.

One thing the whole family can get behind is delicious food and drink and Devon is full of incredible local produce, making it a great place to visit for those looking for foodie activities. Over May half term there are a couple of food festivals, including Flavour Fest in Plymouth city centre and Kingsbridge Food and Music Festival. Also in Plymouth there is Pipsqueak the Adventures of a Baby Dragon   which is taking place at the Soapbox Children’s Theatre, perfect for the younger ones.

Seaton Tramway have a variety of activities going on throughout the half term holidays including the Fairy Special, an enchanted tram ride full of music and stories. If you enjoy yourself, you’ll be able to catch the fairies again later in the year, perfect for summer! Another activity taking place at the tramway is the Dinosaur Tram Adventure where you help professor Percival the Palaeontologist! If dinosaurs are your thing, then head to Woodlands Family Theme Park where there are several dinosaur themed days taking place. On 31st May there is Raptor Day and on 1st June, Brontosaurus Day. Both of these events are free with your entry to the theme park. Other events taking place at Woodlands, include visits with Peppa Pig and Duggee, both of whom are coming to the theme park during early June.

At River Dart Country Park, there is Picnic in the Park, the summer’s biggest family picnic where you can find a fantastic line up of activities and displays with music, sport and more – ideal for those warm days leading into the summer.

There are some amazing family friendly jubilee events taking place during the half term holidays, including the Steam Gala at Pecorama,   who will have trains running all day over the weekend, while at Bear Town, there is an event where the kids can get together to help solve the mystery of the missing jewels, all with  a royal twist.

Alternatively, why not have a day at the races? There is Horseracing at Newton Abbot racecourse over 25th May and 1st June where there are 18 thrilling fixtures taking place.
