Pride is a wonderful celebration of the LGBTQA+ community, commemorating their history, achievements and is a safe place for members of the community to join together and have some fun.
Exeter Pride is one of the biggest free Pride events in the country and takes place on 12th May, making it one of the first events in the Pride calendar. This year, Exeter is celebrating 10 years of holding Pride in the region, promising the day will be bigger and better than ever.

While the event has taken on some changes over the last ten years, the whole idea of Pride has changed hugely since its inception in the fifties and sixties. The turning point of Pride came from the Stonewall Riots in 1969, which led to the founding of the Stonewall charity and over the following decades, the growth of the events, many of them feature a parade and have a carnival like atmosphere full of bright colours and entertainment.
