Farmers Markets in Devon

Markets in Devon

Want to try and buy excellent local Devon food and drink straight from the producers? What about locally designed and produced art, clothes, glass and more? You’ll find a whole range of interesting products and fresh food at the regular markets held all across Devon.

Devon is well known for its incredible food and drink, in fact, you’ll find some of the best seafood in the UK in the south of the county and this is something that is regularly and proudly highlighted! Antiques and the arts scene are also important to the people of Devon, so visiting one of the markets will give you the chance to come across some truly unique pieces and pick up interesting gifts for family and friends.

Devon’s farmers’ markets happen across the county all year round and are a great place to get to the heart of real Devon produce and artisan producers. From clothes to food to crafts to antiques there are markets and pop ups all over the region for you to explore.  It isn’t just farmers’ markets that you’ll come across, many of the larger villages and towns across Devon host regular themed markets, so do keep an eye on our what’s on pages to check when the next markets are taking place.

Regular food markets showing off freshly caught sea food take place in Brixham, while markets in towns like Totnes offer unique art items. Totnes is also home to one of the south west’s biggest food markets, where you can grab everything from fruit and veg to locally made fudge and pastries.

Head to north Devon to explore Barnstaple’s Pannier Market, which is the perfect spot to find gifts and grab the essentials.

The pannier markets can be found all over the county, with many of them retaining their original Victorian and Georgian features which makes browsing feel like a real experience. Some of the town’s where these markets still take place really get into the spirt with the stall holders dressing up in period costumes and street performers entertaining you as you look around.

While you’ll find these markets all over the place all year around, do put the dates of the Christmas Markets in your diaries, the Christmas Markets in Devon are an entire event with entertainment, market stalls and other festive treats to get you in the spirit.

Take a look below to find one happening near you… Remember to take a hearty appetite and a shopping bag – you’ll need them!
