Voted ‘Best Small Attraction in Devon’, Stuart Line Cruises is a multi-award-winning, family-run passenger boat company, based in the traditional seaside town of Exmouth, in Devon. Operating year-round for over 50 years, they pride themselves on offering excellent value for money within a diverse range of cruises, from River Exe, Exeter Canal, Private Charter and Guided Bird Watching Cruises to day trips along the South Devon Coastline to the English Riviera Geopark and along England’s Only Natural UNESCO World Heritage Site, The Jurassic Coast.
In addition, Stuart Line Cruises run a whole host of exciting ‘Special Events’ throughout the year, from ‘Fish & Fizz’ to ‘Geology Day Trips’, ‘The English Riviera Airshow’ and their famous ‘Dartmouth Royal Regatta’ cruises, offering unique bookable experiences for the whole family.
There is a plethora of things to do, see and discover in Devon but so much is only visible or accessible by boat – the magnificent coastlines, hidden coves and stunning marine wildlife – you simply cannot spend a holiday in Devon without a trip to the coast.
Exmouth is the gateway to the oldest section of The Jurassic Coast - England’s Only Natural UNESCO World Heritage Site. The magnificent East Devon coastline spans 95 miles from the Geoneedle at Orcombe Point in Exmouth, to Old Harry Rocks in Dorset and travels through 185 million years of the Earth’s history and geology, making it internationally recognised as one of the most significant heritage sites in the world. The Triassic rocks at Exmouth are believed to be some 250 million years old and without doubt, the best and safest way to discover this ever-changing, natural wonder is from the entirely unique perspective of the water. Stuart Line Cruises offer regular cruises throughout the summer months and deliver an informative live commentary from the Skipper, detailing the diverse history, beauty, wildlife and geology found along the way.
The River Exe is a RAMSAR Site of Special Scientific Interest, internationally recognised for its prolific migratory bird life during winter and famously home to huge numbers of rare Avocets at Topsham. Thousands of birds from the likes of Greenland, Iceland and Arctic Siberia shelter on the Exe Estuary to have their babies and feed on the rich biodiversity which is found on the vast mudflats. Partnered with local Ornithologists, Stuart Line Cruises offer award-winning Guided Bird Watching Cruises during winter, making the most of calm-assured waters which provide the perfect opportunity for passengers to discover hundreds of species from within their natural habitat.
Exeter Canal is the oldest working ship canal in Europe. Reminisce as you travel through time with Stuart Line Cruises, with a choice of departure from Exmouth Marina or Exeter Quayside. Sailing through two working locks and the Countess Wear swing bridge, a cruise presents the perfect opportunity to explore the historic quayside of Exeter and the traditional seaside town of Exmouth and enjoy a spot of lunch at one of the many independent eateries.
The Stuart Line fleet is without doubt the best in the south west, boasting fully-licenced bars, from which attentive Crew offer waitress service throughout cruises, serving passengers in their seats or at their tables. The Stuart Line family are hugely passionate about good-quality, local produce, supporting fellow local businesses and pride themselves on being able to offer a selection of local ales from Exeter Brewery, Gin from Copper Frog which is distilled in Exmouth and the all-important Devon Cream Tea, from the Devon Scone Company in East Devon, among many other irresistible treats to compliment your cruise!
