Sidmouth Beach is a beautiful expanse of sand and shingle beach, clean, accessible, and surrounded by awe inspring cliffs that make the beach feel very secluded. Sidmouth is known as the gateway to the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site. Sidmouth town beach is a sand and shingle beach perfect for families to spend a day.
Jacobs Ladder is a series of wooden steps leading from the beach up to the Connaught Gardens - which provides beautiful views of the coastline below. Jacob's Ladder is the sandy, western end of Sidmouth's town beach, which is mostly pebble. It is ideal for young children, there is a large expanse of sand and plenty of rock pools at low tide.
The many Regency buildings of Sidmouth add elegance and distinction to the Esplanade which runs the full length of the beach, alongside majestic cliffs.
There is a good level of disabled access and facilities onto the beach, and local cafe's and restaurants are nearby.
Dogs are welcome all year on a small area at the east end of the beach.
Sidmouth is situated off the A3052 from Exeter or the A375 from Honiton.
