Paignton Zoo is currently closed from 5th January 2021 until further notice. This closure is part of the Government’s national lockdown measures to control the spread of coronavirus. Please see the zoo’s website for the answers to any questions you may have.
With over 2,500 animals across 80 acres of beautiful, spacious grounds – you are in for a really wild time at Paignton Zoo! Located in South Devon, Paignton Zoo is one of the South West’s most exciting visitor attractions and one of Britain’s top zoos. Come rain or shine, the zoo is a fun-filled day out for the whole family.
Discover all your favourite species, big and small, including gorillas, orang-utans, giraffes, lions, tigers, crocodiles, flamingos, red pandas and rhinos, and be ready for a few surprises along the way too. There are many Covid-19 safety measures implemented around the site to ensure that everyone can have an enjoyable and safe visit. For full details, please see the Paignton Zoo website.
To refuel during the day, there are various food outlets around the site to grab a takeaway drink or snack, including the Island Restaurant in the heart of the zoo. Situated in the main entrance, the Living World gift shop is stocked full of unique gifts, cuddly toys and branded souvenirs.
Paignton Zoo is a registered charity, so not only do you get a good day out, you know your money is going to a good cause, supporting education, scientific research and practical conservation around the world. Paignton Zoo supports a number of projects in the UK and overseas that aim to conserve wildlife in the wild, as well as playing a key role in breeding programmes for rare and endangered species. You can also help by purchasing an Annual Pass, for entry all year round to Paignton Zoo.
Paignton Zoo is open from 10am every day (except Christmas Day). Closing times and last entry varies throughout the year so please see the website or call Paignton Zoo on 01803 697500.

Paignton Zoo is located on the A3022 Totnes Road, 1 mile from Paignton town centre. Once in Paignton follow the brown tourist signs marked with an elephant and Zoological Gardens. The Zoo is situated near to Morrisons supermarket. The postcode is TQ4 7EU.
The Zoo has free parking for 1,110 cars on site and an overflow car park a short walk away. There are designated disabled parking bays located on the first level of the car park and visitors can be dropped outside and collected from the main Zoo entrance.
The nearest train stations are Paignton and Torquay. Onward travel to the Zoo is by bus.
Routes 22, 66 and Stagecoach Gold all stop by or near the zoo.
