We have lots of theme parks in Devon, and adventure parks too – because Devon loves to entertain its visitors and locals. There are theme parks large, small, quirky - and plenty that are somewhere in between! Many are award-winning too.
Whether you call them adventure parks, fun parks, activity parks ... what they all have in common is providing lots of fun things to do, and a really great day out!
Theme parks and adventure parks are perfect for a family day out. All provide a range of activities designed to entertain a variety of ages. Each will have its more sedate rides and attractions – and then others that are designed to thrill. Some are designed around a theme – such as farms, dinosaurs or the galaxy – whilst others simply set out to pack as many fun things to do into one place as they can!
If you want a day out that involves activity as well as relaxation, then a Devon theme park is a great choice. You’ll often find indoor soft play and outdoor play areas as well as gentle mini-train rides and art and craft activities on offer.
Devon’s adventure parks provide all the facilities you need for a comfortable day out, such as great food, toilets and rest areas.
Most theme parks have attractions that are indoor too, so that even if the weather’s wet you still have lots to do. Check each theme park’s own website before you set out.
You’ll find that most parks are open during the week and weekend during the main Devon school holidays, and at weekends all year round – but do check each park’s own website for details specific to them.
Most parks hold special events throughout the year, and particularly during the Easter, Summer and Christmas holidays.
Devon’s theme parks usually post details about disable access and facilities on their own websites, and in recent years many have made great efforts to make their fun as open to as many people as possible.
Save some of these to your itinerary, and start planning your Devon holiday - you'll find more ideas on the lotstodo website too
